I'm saddened to hear of Ronald's passing. I don't recall many students at Portola (I didn't grow up in Encino and soon left for Florida), but I do remember him. We used to ride home on the same bus and talk. He was good-natured and engaged in fun conversation. I hope Ronald had a good life, and condolences go out to his family.
Last time I saw Ronnie was in the endzone of the BHS football field. He was playing football for Reseda HS. vs Birmingham. Ronnie and I did not know whom we were fighting against, we were kicking each others ass, until my brother ran on to the field without his helmet, and Ronnie said "Frank is that you" the fight stopped. Ronnie was a great football player and was a good friend. The good die young.
Ron was a great man & one of the few great friends I had at Portola. I last saw him when we were 20 with Steve Crippen. He was a gentle guy who always was fair to everybody and loved all his friends. I enjoyed wonderful summer with him and after that we moved forward with our lives. He will always be remembered. My warmest sympathy to his family.
