Maureen was beyond brilliant, although this did not define her as a person. She presented herself as fierce, and unafraid to express her thoughts. This gusto was tempered with respect and appreciation for other perspectives. One of my most distinct memories was from 9th grade. She brought a slide-rule to school. This was something unseen by most of us. It was thoughtful of her to share her enthusiasm for learning with the class.
