Joan and I swam together as youngsters on the Hackensack YMCA swim team during the 4th thru 9th grade years, and she was such a good friend and her family as well will always be remembered.
I rember Joanie as a vibrany, beautilull and fun-loving person. I considered her a friend and couldn't have been happier when my life long friend Mike Degerick took her as his wife.
Mike and I were classmates from kindergarten through our senior year at THS. (In fact, his Dad was our Milkman.)
But I kmow that Mike's Dad was responsible for Mike's succues at Duke and the White Sox.
Joan and I went to Lowell School together and I use to play with her and the Hutton twins and Priscila in her family tree house. I remember her Mom, Her Dad, Brownie ad her sister Jean and brother Jimmy. They were a nice family and Joan was a star in the family. Even when she was so young she was a natural athelete who got up early to swim and train. In high school we didn't see much of each other but, when I last saw her at a reunion shortly after graduating college, it was like we were still those young grils who played cowboys and indians in the tree house. She looked as lovely as ever and was as nice as can be.
