Since our last reunion, I slammed flugles in Austria, dropped Corbet's Couloir at Jackson Hole, completed the Camp Pendleton Mud Run after spraining my ankle at Mile 1, ran two half marathons, learned to swim, bought and sold my first motorcycle, bungee jumped in Auckland, rode the Bullet Train in Japan, and the chicken bus in Guatemala, and climbed the steps at Angkor Wat. I reread To Kill a Mockingbird. I was neighbors with Nick Hadjis. I was in Jeff Waddleton's wedding. I camped with Dawn Bennett in the Arizona woods; I sat in a tent with Kurin Smith's kids in their bedroom. I learned to spot Cassiopeia, Arcturus and Syrius. I became a hospice volunteer (love it) and a literacy tutor (I'm not so good at this one). I crashed a snowmobile and an ATV. I played Metal Gear Solid. I took a sign language class and a harmonica class (I'm not so good at these, either).
I was caught working, working out, working it, gettin' worked, gettin' worked up, gettin' over it, gettin' some.
I got my heart broken and then healed. I laughed out loud and I hugged too tight. And I gave a lot of thanks to the universe for every little thing.
