Richard Matthew Barge, age 43, joined our Lord Saturday Oct 22nd in Dallas, Texas. He was born on Feb 26, 1968 in Temple, Texas. Richard graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1990. In 1992 he married his high school sweetheart, Karen Vollmer. He moved his family to Dallas in 1993 and later became the founder and CEO of Winston Capital Corporation. Richard was an incredibly loving husband and father. His strength, compassion, sensitivity, and generosity made him a great leader, especially for his family. He was very involved in his children's lives and activities, and took great pride in their accomplishments. Richard loved a life full of adventure and he lived it to the fullest with the people he adored. He loved all sports, especially Longhorn football, but his favorite events were the ones in which his children participated. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, tennis and golf. Richard loved being surrounded by family and his countless friends. As a self-proclaimed food critic, he always enjoyed cooking and sharing his passion for food with everyone. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church. Richard leaves with his children the lessons he learned about the importance of having a strong and loving relationship with Jesus Christ. He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Karen Vollmer Barge; his children, daughter Emily, son Matthew, and daughter Alexandra; mother, Suzanne Plasek Barge, father, V.W. (Bill) Barge and wife Laura; siblings Elizabeth Hibbard (William), Alison Arnold, Rebekah Thomas (Andy), Will Barge, Grace Barge and Paul Barge. Richard was blessed with many nephews and nieces; Tyler and Gracen Bradford; Nicholas Hibbard; Jessica, Micah and Robert Arnold; Charlie and Gigi Thomas. Jacob, Wesley, and Brody Scott. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Barge, Dr. and Mrs. WW Plasek and nephew Samuel Thomas. Services for Richard will be in Dallas on Thursday (10/27) at 10am at Highland Park United Methodist Church followed by a graveside service at North Belton Cemetery in Belton, Texas (1500 North Main Street) at 4pm.
