Robert E. “Bob” Herrig, 68, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

He was born Aug. 31, 1949, in Tiffin, to Albert and Philomena (Spino) Herrig. In December 1970, he married Sue Hines, and they later divorced.

Survivors include his sons, Wade (Julie) Herrig of Norwalk and Shane (Nicole) Herrig of Tiffin; sister-in-law, Tammy Herrig of Tiffin; and three grandchildren, Isabella and Elaina Herrig and Sophia Herrig.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William J. “Bill” Herrig.

Bob graduated in 1967 from Calvert High School and received his bachelor’s degree in business from Tiffin University in 1988. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1971-1977, retired in 2012 after 41 years from Whirlpool in Clyde, and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Robert loved nature, enjoyed hiking, walking, bicycling, racing, being outdoors, going to high school games with his friends and attending his granddaughter’s sporting events. He was also a member of Tiffin Moose No. 846. Robert was a strong supporter of church and charities and was very generous.

His Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will be private at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seneca County Humane Society.
