Douglas A. Perry, 61, of Sylvania, passed away Monday, May 16. 2011.
He was born July 18, 1949, the first of 14 children born to the late Bearl and Germaine Perry. Doug grew up in Tiffin and graduated from Calvert High School in 1967. He graduated from United Electric Institute in 1969 and started working for Haughton Elevator. In 1972 he began working at City Auto Stamping, where he earned his journeyman card and worked for 17 years, before being laid off in 1989.
For the past 21 years he worked at Mazda/Ford. Doug loved to play cards, woodworking, metal detecting and spending time with his family. Doug's one and only grandson, Noah, was the light of his eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of almost 30 years, Connie (Nagel) Perry; and brother, Mike Perry.
He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Michael) Vasko; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Perry) Reinhart; seven sisters, Diane (Jim) Alley, Cheryl (Jim) Caldwell, Connie (Bob) Chech, Mildred (Geoff) Davenport, Linda (Doug) Kuhn, Ellen (Jim) Beckley and Karen (Steve) Welter; five brothers, Jim (Jane) Perry, Mark (Monica) Perry, Roger (Jane) Perry, Jeff (Sharon) Perry and Tony (Linda) Perry; and his girlfriend, Margie Taylor.
