Gerald L. 'Gerry' Shultz

Tiffin firefighter

 

Gerald L. 'Gerry' Shultz, 47, of 80 Grand Ave., Tiffin, died at 3:21 p.m. at Fremont Memorial Hospital.

 

He was born in Tiffin March 19, 1949 to Marion and Ethel Mae (Adelsperger) Shultz.  His mother and stepfather, Bernard Smith, survive in Fremont.  On October 19, 1968 he married Margaret 'Peg" Steyer in St. Joseph's Church and she also survives.

 

Other survivors include:  two sons, Rodney and Ryan Shultz, both of Tiffin; Mrs. Mark (Deborah) Fisher of Findlay, Mrs. Steve (Bonnie) Lotycz, Mrs. Chuck (Peggy) Merrill, and Mrs. Jeff (Mary Ann) Guthrie, all of Fremont.

 

A 1967 graduate of Calvert High School, Mr. Shultz served in the US Air Force from 1968-72.  He had been a Tiffin Firefighter since 1979 and was also employed in the maintenance department of Heidelberg College.

 

He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Firefighters Union Local 322, the Knights of Columbus 608 and Amvets.  He was a former member of the Tiffin Jaycees and a former cubmaster at St. Mary's Church.

 

The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Frank Murd officiating.  The rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m.  Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. 

 

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Hannay-Nemeth Mortuary.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca County Cancer Services, St. Mary's Church, Calvert High School, or a charity of the donor's choice.
