David Steinmetz

David L. “Curly” Steinmetz, 65, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday morning, January 27, 2015 at his home. 

He was born on November 30, 1949, in Tiffin, Ohio, to George and Rosemary (Baker) Steinmetz. On July 20, 1968, he married Karen Staley and they later divorced and she survives in Oak Harbor. 
Survivors include his son, David (Tina) Steinmetz of Oak Harbor; daughter, Angie (John) LaFountain of Oak Harbor; brother, Steve (Judy) Steinmetz of Tiffin; 3 sisters, Bonnie (David) Everett of South Lyon, MI and Diane (Ed) Wise and Ann (Dave) Kummerer, both of Tiffin; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Katherine Rose Steinmetz; infant sister, Joyce Steinmetz; and niece, Beth Everett. 

David graduated in 1967 from Tiffin Calvert High School, attended Tiffin University and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He joined the Tiffin Fire Department on April 1, 1971 and retired on January 2, 1998 after 27 years. He also worked for Burns Electric for over 30 years and was a rural carrier for USPS for several years. David was also a member of the AmVets Post 48 and enjoyed gambling, playing cards, traveling around the United States and going on cruises. 

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. 

Friends may visit with the family from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 8:00 P.M. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care, F.A.C.T. or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
