TIFFIN - Phillip R. Steinmetz, 150 Henry St., Tiffin, died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. The son of J. Robert Steinmetz and Donna (McGowan) Steinmetz, he was born July 6, 1949 in Tiffin. Surviving is his father and his stepmother Hazel Steinmetz of Tiffin; four brothers, Joseph of Toledo, Thomas of Bucyrus, and Dennis and Daniel of California; and two sisters Janet Stahl and Lynn Warwick of Tiffin. A 1967 graduate of Calvert High School, he served the Marine Corps in the Vietnam conflict. He lived in California before returning to Tiffin. He was a self-employed craftsman who did various home building projects such as roofing, siding, carpentry and wood refinishing. Since returning to Tiffin, he was active in lodge and veteran organizations. He was a Michigan sports fan. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be at Turner-Engle Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Monday, followed by military graveside services at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made the Seneca County Dialysis Center or the Seneca County Veterans Association.

I do remember talking to Phillip, here in California some time in the past years, not sure when... at that time

he was living near Sacramento/Davis area, had his own business.   He did sound happy, so sorry he is gone
