My most interesting memory of Jim was in football.  He was a lineman and I was a running back.  During practice, I tried to block Jim by diving low to hit his legs.  My helmet contacted his lower legs and I was temporarily knocked unconscious.  I was probably out only a few seconds.  When I recovered, the coach asked one of the high school "managers" to take me to the doctor's office.  I rode on the back of his motorcycle--not the safest place for me, but we made it.  I recovered quickly with no lasting problems.  Of course Jim wasn't hurt at all and I don't even know if my block was effective because I can't remember the outcome!  I also played basketball against Jim at the YMCA.  We were on different teams, but I really loved those Y games on Saturdays during winter.
