Portia Mary Miles Jul 12, 2017  1 HARTSVILLE -- Memorial services for Ms. Portia Mary Miles of Lamar will be 12 Noon Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 6th Street Church of God. Rev. Rodgers Jackson, Pastor. Arrangements directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. Ms. Miles died Saturday, July 8th in a Florence hospital. She was born in Miami, FL a daughter of Mary Boston Miles and the late Jacob Miles, Sr. In her younger years she lived in Baltimore, MD but Timmonsville, SC is where she considered home. She was a graduate of Timmonsville High School Class of 1979. She attended Florence-Darlington Technical College for a secretarial diploma in 1980 and later nursing aide and phlebotomy certification in 2015.She was employed by Pee Dee RTA as a bus driver, Florence School District 4 and Darlington County School District as a special education teacher's aide/behavior manager and recently with Darlington County Disabilities and Special Needs Board as a direct support professional. She was a life member of the Church of God. She was preceded in death by: 2 sisters: Juliet Deanna Miles McCray, and Juanita Miles Conley. Survivors include: her mother, Mary Boston Miles of Timmonsville; 4 children: Trevor Miles of Florence, Terrence Miles of Charlotte, NC, Tiara Miles of Coconut Creek, FL and T'Anna Miles of Hartsville; granddaughters: Khloe Miles and Jurnee Beckett; her siblings: Jacob Miles Jr. of Santa Barbara, CA, Vanessa Miles, Thelma Miles Flynn, Helen Miles Jett all of Darlington, Jacqueline Miles Stanley of Conway and Patricia Gerald Ford of Marion; three special nephews: Devin (Cody) McCray, Thomas (Kandace G.) Cannon and Spencer (Shannon) Cannon; uncle, Reynolds (Ruth) Boston, Aunts: Joyce Davis and Alice McDougald; nieces, nephews and cousins. The family is receiving friends at the residence of an aunt, Joyce Davis of 105 East New Street, Timmonsville.
