LAURIE MEECH, 62, of Honolulu, died Feb. 9, 2009.  Born in Minneapolis.  Mental-health advocate and activist; founder of Hawai'i's first self-help group for those with bipolar disorder; past program director of United Self-Help; instrumental in having bars removed from Hawai'i State Hospital windows; to be honored posthumously as Outstanding Consumer Advocate by Mental Health America of Hawai'i.  Survived by sister, Julia; brothers, Charles and Christopher.  Service 10 a.m. March 14 at Church of the Crossroads.  Donations to the People's Fund or American Cancer Society.
