Joseph (Joe) Charles Good passed away on March 28, 2025, at Hospice Home of Lenawee surrounded by his family. Joe was born on May 2, 1952, to James and Ruth (Vail) Good.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Linda (LaZette); and his children, Andrew (Danielle) Good, Benjamin (Joelle) Good and Thomas Good; his brother-in-law Phil (Peggy) LaZette, sister-in-law Lisa Horn, brother-in-law and friend Jon Horn, Robert Horn, first wife Teena Good, four nephews, three nieces, nine great nephews and two great nieces . He leaves five grandchildren to cherish his memories – Jade, Mina, Toby, Garrett & Austin. Joe loved his family fiercely, and valued family time above all else.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James (Jim) Good, sister-in-law Sandra Good, father-in-law Ramon LaZette, mother-in-law Sue Simon, long-time friend and father-in-law, Rick Simon and grandchildren Levi and Oopsy.
He had a special place in his heart for dogs. Joe leaves behind his beloved Bailey but has been reunited with his old pal Jerry (“JD”).
Joe was born and raised in Toledo, OH alongside his life-long best friend Bruce Bowles. He graduated from Start High School in 1970, where he made National Honor Society, joined DECA, and excelled for the golf team. During this time, he was the singer and keyboardist for Bounty, a band that rocked the Toledo area and was offered a record deal by legendary musician Tiny Tim.
He worked hard to continue the legacy of the family business, Good Displays, for 30 years in downtown Toledo. He then transitioned to owning and operating JL Demmi Designs with his wife (and boss) Linda, allowing them to travel together and spend much of their time in Florida, which became a second home to them.
Joe was a legendary cook - as anyone who ever had a plate of ribs, a bowl of chili, or a breakfast sandwich could attest. He was a huge sports fan and shared his love of Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines football with his wife and sons. He loved sitting around the fire, looking out over the lake. One of his favorite past-times was taking the boat out on the water, pulling his sons on tubes while they feared for their lives. He also could slow it down and take his family for sunset cruises or fishing expeditions out on the lake.
The life of every party, Joe lived- and loved- to entertain. He proudly hosted hundreds of parties at his home on Posey Lake in Hudson, MI over the years. Joe had a gift for making friends with anyone he met, and his smile and laugh were infectious for all who were blessed to experience it.
It's hard to capture the essence of a person’s life in the space of a few paragraphs, but to know Joe Good in person was pure joy. His legacy of kindness and hospitality will carry on forever through the lives of everyone who knew him.
There are no words that can express how grateful we are for the nurses and staff who cared for him at Hospice Home of Lenawee. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to this amazing facility.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, April 26, 2025, beginning at 2 p.m. for fellowship until the time of a memorial service at 6 p.m. at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N.
