James "Jim" Edward Underwood, 72, of Hamilton Lake, Indiana, formerly of Rossford, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024 surrounded by family.
Born in Toledo on September 15, 1951, to Joanne (Winkleman) and Herbert Underwood, Jim graduated from Start High School in Toldeo, Ohio and dedicated many years of his life as a skilled glassmaker at Libbey Owens Ford/Pilkington, contributing significantly to the industry.
Jim was a man of many interests, including fishing, hunting, and karate, each of which reflected his love for nature and discipline. His hobbies were not just pastimes but a way to connect with friends and family, creating cherished memories.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Cathy (Dunmead), his daughter Christy, and son David. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Kyrah and James Underwood. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon (Nelson) Yoshimoto; sister-in-law Becky Underwood; brother-in-law, David (Susan) Dunmead, sister-in-law, Peggy Dunmead and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Joanne and Herbert Underwood, his brother John Underwood, his in-laws, William and Joan Dunmead and brothers-in-law, William Dunmead Jr and James Dunmead.
A celebration of life will be planned in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the DeKalb County Humane Society in Indiana.
