California Event July, 2022

Event Details

“The Wonder of it All”

Saturday & Sunday, July 9-10, 2022

You and your spouse/partner are invited to pack your bags and travel to northern California!  Jerry Bolduan and Paul Gussenhoven have planned an incredible experience for the classmates of the Bowsher High School Class of 1967. Keep reading for more information!

There will be two planned events for classmates over this two day period:

  • A Saturday garden tour and dinner at Jerry and Paul's
  • A Sunday Brunch at the Wild Oak Saddle Club (see information on each below)

Please note: Classmates will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements and booking any side trips or excursions of interest to them personally at other times.

Generally speaking, the earlier you book your reservations the more affordable the trip.  Some of you will be driving in, while others will be booking flights.

Airports in close proximity (with rental cars) are:

STS (Santa Rosa - VERY close to Jerry and Paul).
SFO - (San Francisco)
OAK - (Oakland)

Santa Rosa or Sebastopol hotels are readily available.  Here are a few that Jerry suggested:

Hyatt Vineyard Creek in Santa Rosa, CA

Sebastopol Inn, Sebastopol, CA

Fairfield Inn & Suites, Santa Rosa Sebastopol, CA

For day trips, there are MANY wineries easily reached by rental car, both all over Sonoma County and even over to Napa County with its more touristy areas plus great restaurants and higher prices.  Also, of course, the coast line in northern California is a huge tourist draw with its craggy cliffs and areas easily accessible to the beaches and sea lion colonies.  Ocean fishing is available out of Bodega Bay (famous with Alfred Hitchcock’s “Birds”).

Either before or after traveling to Sonoma County, classmates can visit and enjoy all that San Francisco offers.

The centerpiece of the weekend is on Saturday: the tour of Jerry and Paul’s gardens (Green Valley Growers, featured in many magazines and newspapers), followed by a dinner on the expansive decks of their home with 70 mile views out over vineyards and the distant Mayacamas Mountain range.

On Sunday, a brunch is available by prepaid reservation at the Wild Oak Saddle Club (in Santa Rosa) where travelers/classmates can watch a polo match while enjoying superb cuisine by Jerry and Paul’s friend and chef, Joe Farinacci.

Please note:  this is a private party Jerry and Paul are generously hosting for members of the class of 1967 and their spouse/friend and for health reasons (Jerry works with Dr. Fauci) our hosts are limiting attendance to individuals who are fully vaccinated against covid-19.  If you choose not to vaccinate, for everyone's safety, the request is to please not attend.

Registration for the garden tour/dinner and the brunch is available on this site.

All other arrangements are the responsibility of the individual classmates.

DEADLINE FOR ALL RESERVATIONS: APRIL 30, 2022
