Dennis Ray Evans, 64, of Taft, Tenn., passed away Saturday at Huntsville Hospital.
Born Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1947, in Oak Harbor, Wash., he was the son of the late George Evans and the late Arnell Rollins Evans. He was the husband of Karen Evans.
He graduated in 1968 from Sparkman High School and received a B.S. in education from the University of Alabama in 1975. A Vietnam veteran, he served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. He is remembered as a loving and devoted husband, dad, granddaddy, brother, uncle and friend. He was a member of Cash Point Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Karen Cobb Evans of Taft; daughters, Shannon Evans Pinkston of Franklin, Tenn., and Kendra Evans Heckman of Portland, Ore.; son-in-law, Brett Heckman of Portland; brothers, Michael Evans, Johnny Evans, Carey (Moe) Evans, and Gerald Evans; grandson, Evan Pinkston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cash Point Baptist Church with Derrick Moose officiating. Private graveside services will follow at Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
