Stephen E. Mitchell, 62, of Huntsville passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012.

He was an avid bird hunter and enjoyed participating in trials and raising English Setters. He worked for 30 years as a NASA contractor and most recently with SAIC in property management. He also loved Alabama football.

He was preceded in death by his father and best friend Leonard Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife Penelope Mitchell, mother Margaret Mitchell, daughters Lori Seymour, Cori and husband Jeff Taylor and Jessica Mitchell, son Jared Mitchell, sister Marilyn Gross, nephews Christian Shanklin, Stephen Shanklin and Andrew Grant, niece Reid Sanderson, grandchildren Alex Seymour, Jordan Seymour, Brittany Neal and Katie Taylor and great grandchildren Brody Neal and Reese Neal.

Visitation was held on Monday, July 9th, at 12 noon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Services followed at 2pm at the church with Rev. Michael Davis officiating. Burial was at Mt. Zion cemetery. Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville is assisted the family.
