I didn't know Kelly Warren very well in High School but I got to know her very well about 10 years ago. Her son Nathan and my oldest son Austin had many activities together including cub scouts, baseball and soccer. I coached Nathan in soccer and his dad Tim Hendrix helped me so we got to know each other very well. The Hendrix family later moved their church membership to our familys church and so we saw each other very often. Kelly was a great mother who loved Nathan very much. Nathan recently graduated from Lincoln County High School as class valedictorain and also completed an associates degree at the same time. Quite an accomplishment that I know Kelly would be so proud of.
Kelly was my best friend and I have missed more than I can say. We were there for each other at all of life's major events-her wedding, the day they brought Nathan home from the hospital, Christmases, birthdays and as Aunt Kelly to my Grace. It was months later before I stopped automatically reaching for the phone to call and share some milestone Grace had accomplished. She was a great mother and worshipped Nathan and was good with all children.
I remember the night I found out she had cancer from her mother. I had cried myself to sleep and the phone rang. It was her calling to see how I was doing! That was the way she was. She was one of thr most bravest, kindest people I will ever know. I use to tell her she would be late for her own funeral because of her chronic trait that drove me crazy, but I was wrong-her funeral came much too early for everyone that knew her.
