Charlotte. She does publicity for Honda Racing and Lamborghini. Daughter JULIE, born 1968 , lives in Bethesda with world's smartest grandson WILLIAM, born in 2011. Julie previously was a professor at Princeton where she taught middle eastern politics. She has lived in Egypt and Iran, visited Lebanon, Syria and Jordan and has been Director of Academic Relations for the Fulbright Scholarship professors. and is now Executive Director of tbhe International Law Institute. We now have a condo in Bethesda, MD and are spending spring and fall there to watch William grow up. He trash talks me when we play Sorry. He is the tallest kid in his class and plays defense on the soccer (football) team. We may be moving to Charlotte in September or October of 2026.
Junior High Attended:

Holliday, city football champs. Too bad the school doesn't exist anymore. When we won the championship the principal Don Dittamore called us into his office to congratulate us and he told us he was on the last Holliday team to win the city championship back in the twenties.

Graduated from Washburn in 1964; Married Priscilla Rogers. Moved to California in May of 64; Worked as a U.S. Dept. of Labor Wage and hour Investiator from 64 to 79; Graduated from Pepperdine Law School in 1976; Assistant District Director at U.S. Department of Labor from 79 to 89; Asst. Regional Counsel at U.S. Dept. of Justice, 89-01; U.S. Immigration Judge, 01-06; Now I am enjoying retirement. Priscilla is still a travel agent so we have traveled to every state and over 70 countries and territories. After going to all those places I still tell everyone that Topeka High School is the most beautiful high school I have ever seen. Europe river cruise 10/22 including a stop to see relatives in the UK. Cruise around Japan coming in 11/23.

We are still Big 8 (Big 12) fans and have been to two final fours with KU and two with UCLA. We have also been to see the Dodgers in the World Series, the Rams in the Super Bowl, the Lakers in the NBA finals, Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl and the Indianapolis 500 3 times. We went to a lot of Olympic events in 1984. Southern California is a great place to be a sports fan.

Priscilla bought me the great picture book, "Portraits of Troy" and I have shown it to my friends who can't believe a high school exists as great as THS. Every day of my sophmore year, I walked through the east entrance below the inscription "BOOKS ARE THE WINDOWS THROUGH WHICH THE SOUL LOOKS OUT". I just learned this is a quote from Henry Ward Beecher, who was the defendant in one of the most famous trials of the 19th century. He was accused of adultery. The trial ended with a hung jury. I don't know if this has any relationship to Topeka High.

My mother was from England and we have visited England 13 times to see relatives. They have been to the U.S. to visit us in Bethesda and Huntington Beach and we traveled with them to Oregon to watch the eclipse.
School Story:

At the first school assembly in 1956 I was standing next to Bobby Stone and he said, "What do you think of this Elvis Presley guy?"

Having to leave the all-school party at 10 pm because Heavy Erwin would chaperone to make sure the track team got to bed early. We always had a meet the Saturday after the all-school party.

At around 5 am, after the Senior Prom, Stevie Black and I were driving down Gage Blvd. when we saw several peacocks crossing the street. I stopped and tried to run them back into the park when Roger Christian came driving by and we both chased them back into the park.

Mr. Shoemakere, I have known you longer than anyone else on earth. How haver I survived such a burden? We were in each other's weddings, rode bikes together, fished and hunted together, cut school together and traveled together. Here's to another 85 years. Happy birthday my friend.

Happy Birthday Myrna. Glad to hear you are still doing well. I know I have told you this before, but I still remember going down to the corner of Wilson and Sewarda at noon and seeing your Dad hurrying home for lunch. We only lived 4 blocks from the shops and my Dad actually drove to work and hone for lunch.

Happy Birthday Vic, hope you and Rene are doing well. Priscilla and I both got lung cancer but it looks like the surgery worked. I am still having chemo and I had radiation but they seem to be working.

We just returned from a Mediterranean cruise with our entire family. My grandson is now taller than me. He is 13.
The print in these messages is so small I can barely read them. How did the print get so small?

Happy birthday Linda. I think I lost what I was writing. I was saying this is the first time you won't have a Holliday classmate to share birthdays with. I miss Kohler every so often, like last night when KU was slaughtered by BYU. He was such a huge KU fan that he told me once, before the internet existed, that he would call his Mom from California and have her hold the phone next to the radio so he could hear Max Falkenstein call the game.

Mayona, I had not read your profile recently so I did not know about your cancer until now. I hope it has not progressed. I also had cancer and was fortunate enough to beat it. We're all getting toward the end now. Take care. Jack

I was very sorry to hear of Gary's passing.  What a great career he had.  He should be in the THS Hall of Fame.  I was talking to him at one of the reunions one evening and he had heard I had been appoited to a judgeship.  We were talking about some of the obstaacles of being a judge and he invited me to see his courtroom, so we went over to the courthouse on 10th street at arojund 10 pm, and he gave me a proivate tour.  He was justijfiably proud of his courtroom and being the Chief Judge, as was I.  A judge and a nice guy.  It is possible.
