In Memory

Charles F. Klesath

Charles F. (Fred) Klesath passed away December 14, 2009 in Steamboat Springs Colorado. "Fred" was a retired pharmacists and currently a hunting and fishing guide in Colorado and Utah. This information was given to us by a cousin.

In addition received this note & photo from Steve Lauterbach

Six years ago I went fly fishing at Flaming Gorge Dam in Utah on the Green River. It was my first time fishing the river.  I walked into the fly shop to hook-up with my guide when I heard a deep loud voice say ""Steve Lauterbach from Topeka Kansas" I yelled back YES, who are you? He replied "Klesath - Fred Klesath"".  What a surprise, had not seen Fred since THS.  That was the last time I was to call him Fred, you see he never liked the name Fred (Freddy) and when a professor at KU said what do you go by?  Fred replied Chuck, from that day on everyone know him is Chuck.  Oh did we bring back old memories of Jr. High and THS.  Fred  had an incredible memory.  He remembered football games we played in and the outcomes, it went on and on.  Of course every year I ask him to guide, except the last year I was there a few years ago.  He had complained about his knee and that he was going to have to have an operation, that next year he could not guide because he had had the operation.  Apparently he had complications and healing was not going well.  Last December he went to he hospital because of a staff infection and died three days later.

Fred was a successful pharmacist and owned his own drug store, just like his dad, remember Klesath drug in Seabrook?  He loved to ski, play tennis and of course his real love was fly fishing.  It was a real pleasure and honor to become reacquainted  with him and take a walk down memory lane.

God Bless you Fred, I mean Chuck.....

Steve

I visited Fred 8 years ago, he was a legend in the Steamboat area, and was survived by his hunting dogs Liberty and Justice. Fred enjoyed his Porsche and Jeep and was a bachelor. He was a childhood friend and neighbor who enjoyed the great outdoors, skiing, hunting and fishing. He will be missed.
