James Lee McMillan

Classmate “Jim” McMillian passed January 23 in Topeka. He is survived by wife Loreen, son Loreen James and a sister Janice Ann Adame. Jim attended several Topeka schools before graduating THS 1961. In 1988 he l received a degree in criminal justice from Washburn.

He served in the Kansas National Guard holding numerous positions in both technical and law enforcement organizations.  He was called into service during the Vietnam Conflict where he repaired helicopters.

Jim was a member of the Topeka First Methodist Church.  Graveside service will be a 11:30 Tuesday, January 28th, 2020 at Arlington Cemetery, Arlington Kansas.  A celebration of life service will be Friday January 31, 3:00 pm at Topeka First Methodist Church.Memorials requested to: First Methodist Church or the Topeka High School Historical Society or the Topeka High Sesquicentennial “150” Celebration.  A recent picture and extended obit can be found:

Elisha Bernard Hurd

I don't recall knowing Jim when we were in high school. However, it was not too long after I began working in the DA's office that Jim established that we were in the same class at THS. I found him to be a very pleasant individual with a large sense of humor. I didn't have contact with Jim after leaving the courthouse but he was a credit to our THS class. I was sorry to hear of his passing.

James and I were friends we went through school together he lived a block from me on Wabash Ave in Oakland. Sorry to hear of his passing My Deepest Sympathy.  We saw each other at our last reunion.

Erik Hedstrom

Jim was a friend of mine and one of the grade school memories he always invited me to his birthday.He was a very much encourager to all of us. Erik Hedstrom
