The passing of Dick Turner on November 23, 2010 was reported by the Topeka newspaper. Dick had relocated back to Topeka about 5 years ago and died here. He is survived by a daughter, two grandchildren as well as other extended family members.
I've known Dick since the first grade at Randolph. We were in the same reading group and performed as an elephant with him in the same costume - a big hit for the moms, I'm sure. I'll miss his ready smile and his concern when I had my heart attack.
Dick was a tall lumbering presence to shorter kids as myself, in Randolph and Boswell (you can guess his nickname in the world of junior high boys....) He was always a gentle and good friend.
