SUBMITTED ON BEHALF OF NATE DEXTER.

It seems very likely that our classmates, taken as a whole, have accumulated a considerable store of wisdom about life. Below, are a few examples of what I have learned. I pass them along, in the hopes that YOU will ADD TO THE LIST.

THINGS I HAVE LEARNED

For every action, there is an equal and opposite government program

Age is a very high price to pay for maturity

No man has ever been shot while doing the dishes.

People used to drop Acid to make the world look weird. Now they take Prozac to make it look normal.

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, by the time you criticize them, you will be a mile away and you will have their shoes.

I want to die peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandmother. Not mad and screaming, like the passengers in her car.

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative the same night.

Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance.

A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person

The difference between a bad haircut and a good haircut is only about three weeks.

For most of us, we realize when it is time to retire and step aside for a less experienced and less able man.

People all over the world all want the sames things: To be able to feed their kids, and have their kids outlive them.

Sometimes it is hard to believe how much things have changed in our lifetime. It is now possible for a Secretary to get a CEO pregnant.

It seems that some people’s purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others.

At age 4 success is not peeing in your pants.
At age 12 success is having friends.
At age 16 success is having a driver's license.
At age 20 success is having sex.
At age 35 success is having money.
At age 50 success is having money.
At age 60 success is having sex.
At age 70 success is having a driver's license.
At age 75 success is having friends.
At age 80 success is not peeing in your pants.

At my age, "getting lucky" means finding my car in the parking lot.

Playboy is coming out with a new magazine for married men.
Every month, the centerfold is the same woman.

Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

Never pass up a chance to go to the bathroom.

A bad movie is seldom improved by the addition of more helicopters, although adding more Babes in Battle Bikinis can’t hurt.

An add on to Nate's clever sayings. It's a good day when you annoy more people than annoy you.

One more thing: I don't want to brag or make anyone jealous or anything, but I can still fit into the earrings I wore in high school.

That is a good one Pat - I never wore earrings so I can`t say that.

Bet you could still fit into your socks. Some of us might still have them from our high school days.

I guess we have several comedians in our class now; gotta love Nate for starting it and Patti for finishing............that's because they are both Tecumseh Chieftans!

Looking SO forward to seeing all of you in just two weeks!  Counting the days.............

P.S.  NATE, I have seen your sister twice and your brother-in-law last evening and they don't even know you are coming this way :)  Hope you call them and make your room reservations; they may be hanging out the "NO VACANCY" sign..........:)

CLASS OF ’61!

We are gathering to celebrate 50 long years ago;
Oh my goodness, it can’t be so!
Yet, we still remember those wonderful years,
all the fun we had...and even some tears!

Some have fared well, and look much the same;
others will show hair loss and some....weight gain!
But we are not coming for a beauty compare,
but to see all the friends we had while there.

This is no place for wrinkle cream and weighing in;
we just want to know how all our friends have been.
So bring your camera, party clothes and get ready for fun,
because the Reunion Committee has planned

A REALLY BIG ONE!

“HAPPY ANNIVERSARY CLASSMATES!”

I just have to take a moment and say thank you to all of you that I have had the privilege of working with on our 50 year reunion.  I am grateful to Joy and Sharon K who have taken the lead for so many years including this year.  Richard, Linda and I were able to join the previous team and became the "new kids on the block" but none of us could have pulled it off without all of us that were involved.

Our team included Joy and Phil Davis, Sharon Keegan, Richard Hays, Sharon Waters, Linda Freeman, Dennis Parry, Daryl and Becky Harrop, Roni Ready, Mike Reynolds, myself plus the additional folks who came to help us set up and take down Friday's event which included Larry Shipman and Del Newell.  And we can't forget June Boaz Clair, Helen Griffith Beckett, and Robert Miller.

Thanks to all of you who were able to attend for making our 50th spectacular!!!

Go Scotties!!!!

Dear Classmates!

WELL, as “they” say (whoever “they” are) it’s all over but the shoutin’ (whatever that means:) I know personally I was very sad on that Sunday afternoon after we all said our last goodbyes from a wonderful weekend together at our “50th” class reunion.

Now that we have had a little time to come down from such a wonderful weekend, I want to let all of you know how great it was to see you after all these years.  As a member of the committee, that in itself was very special to me as we were all able to connect again, pick up where we had left off so many years ago and actually became close friends all over again.  I am going to really miss those monthly meetings, all the phone calls and all the excitement of when it all finally came together.  If we said it once, we said it a thousand time ~ “we must make this a special, memorable reunion” and the pressure was on as we were so thrilled that so many responded and decided to come, especially those from out of town.

Talk about butterflies, I really had them right before the Friday night event and it wasn’t because we were not ready for the party, it was because we were finally ALL going to be together again and I was a little scared I wouldn’t recognize someone.  A very special moment for me was when Mary Faith walked in the shelter house Friday afternoon with Mike Reynolds and surprised us; lots of giggling and the tears began!  The butterflies landed again when I did my best to present the class memorial tribute.  I had not really given it any thought that it would make me sad once I was in front of all of you.  It meant a great deal to me  to honor those classmates who are “gone, but not forgotten!”

There are so many people to thank for so many things but I do want to start by thanking our committee for coming together as a team and putting on a pretty darn good reunion!  We also had some outside assistance from spouses and I want to name a few in particular.  Thank you Becky Harrop for the adorable scottie dogs that were the center pieces Friday evening; a huge labor of love went into them.  Pam Perry and Becky both showed up to help decorate and tear down on the weekend events also.  A very special “thank you” to Meredith Elliott Curry for giving up so much time with her significant other, Richard Hays, while he burned the midnight oil working on the website, yearbook and all the other duties that he felt necessary to make our reunion a success.  Thank you also to Terry Ready for always offering time and support and helping to set up for the Friday night event.  Guess I better thank my Gary for listening to all my ideas and talking all hours of the night getting his opinion when he was trying to watch the news or catch some zzzz’s.  A very special thank you to my daughter, Jill, for taking time away from her family (especially my grandsons) and taking so many party pics; we cannot wait to share them with you on a video very soon.  I know many of you were taking pictures and we are looking forward to adding those to our video and on the website.  Thank you to Larry Davison and Tom Bayless who were also taking pictures and videos throughout every event.  I hope I have not forgotten anyone who played a role in making our reunion such a success.

I am so thankful for our website so there is no excuse for us not to stay in touch.  We are going to continue the 2nd Friday breakfasts too so would love to see those that can make it.

I apologize for the lengthy email but I am so happy and excited that we are all back in touch again and am looking forward to sharing stories with you.

Regards,

Linda Newton Freeman

Friends and Classmates: just got a cell call from Judy Kay Shepard that Larry Schafer had passed away either today or yesterday. I was shocked and didn't catch the day he died. He told me he was doing fine and in relatively good health when we talked at the reunion Saturday night. Judy said he had chopped wood the day before his death and then later developed an irregular heart arrythemia and did not survive this event. Pray for his family and especially his mother, living in Topeka. Larry was an only child and was very close to Judy Kay during all the years at Highland Park. Pass this info on to those who knew Larry or Judy Kay. Best Regards, Loren.
