In Memory

Beth McCoy (Witt)

Elizabeth Anne Witt, known to those who loved her as Beth, passed away with her husband Dennis Witt by her side on May 14, 2024.
Beth was born on October 25, 1948, to parents Virginia Ann Watson and Charles Thomas McCoy in Waco, Texas. She lost her dad at an early age and was raised by a strong hard-working mom. Her childhood was filled with laughter and countless adventures alongside her beloved sister, Elaine Turner. She loved to roller skate, swim, sew, and go camping and water skiing on Lake Shawnee.
In 1966, Beth graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka, Kansas. She was a member of the Red Cross as well as Pep and Spanish Clubs.
After high school, Beth attended Kansas State University and graduated with a degree in education. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, a finalist for the Royal Purple Queen, and shared many stories of fun memories made in Manhattan, Kansas. In college, she felt God call her to be a teacher and she utilized this gift throughout her career, leaving a profound mark on countless lives within the classroom. Beth's teaching prowess covered various experiences, from guiding 5th and 6th graders to instructing high school Spanish and serving as a cheerleading coach. Her approach was deeply personal, treating her students with the warmth and care of family, nurturing them as if they were her own.
After retiring, she moved to Bentwater and immediately became involved in the many activities that the community had to offer. She served as the President of the Bentwater Ladies Organization, participated in supper clubs, played in canasta and mahjong groups, and joined a painting class. These activities and the amazing groups created strong and long-lasting friendships that remained after she moved to Cypress, Texas.
Beth's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving mother to two children, two stepchildren, and a devoted grandmother to ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Her love knew no bounds, and she was the cornerstone of our family, always there with a listening ear, comforting words, and open arms.
Beth was known for her unwavering faith, her dedication to her community, and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel special and loved. She had a passion for sewing, decorating, cooking, painting, and spending time with her family. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and hospitality, where everyone felt welcome.
Beth was reunited with her parents Charles McCoy and Virginia Rolfe and her grandson Walter Hammerli. She is survived by her loving husband Dennis Witt of 32 years and her children Chad Hammerli (Gina) and Angela Swan (David) and their father Alan Hammerli. Her marriage to Dennis brought two stepchildren into her life Brianne Smith (Michael) and Brandon Witt. Her life's greatest joy were her grandchildren Samantha, Jacob, Sarah, and Sydney Swan, Megan, Quinn, and Russell Hammerli, and Reed and Victoria Smith and great-grandson Braxton.
As we grieve her loss, we also celebrate her remarkable life. Beth's spirit will forever remain in our hearts, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire us every day. We find comfort in knowing that she is at peace with her Savior and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
The family will gather privately to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cypress Christian School, an organization close to Beth's heart.
