Born on September 27th, 1948, in Sedalia, Missouri, Larry's journey through life was one marked by dedication, warmth, and a passion for the things he loved.
Larry is survived by his wife of 29 years Sherry Anders, his son Zackery Weichert (wife Jennifer) from his first wife Karren, his son Erich Schmidt (wife Lacey) from his second wife Dorothy, and two grandchildren. Preceded in death were his father Samuel A. and mother Marie E. and two grandchildren.
Larry graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka, Kansas in 1966. He attended Washburn University in Topeka and later he attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri. Larry earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a testament to his sharp mind and commitment to personal growth. His education laid the foundation for a successful career in retail, where he led with kindness and expertise as a manager at Woolworth for over a decade. He carried these skills into his later work with the Topeka Area Retarded Citizens, where he served as a case manager until his retirement. Larry's professional life was characterized by his friendly demeanor and a passionate approach to helping others.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Larry was an avid sports enthusiast. His love for both professional and collegiate teams was more than a hobby; it was a way of life that brought him immense joy and excitement. He loved the game of baseball and enjoyed his time playing in little league teams. He also found solace and adventure in the pages of fantasy and murder mystery novels, where he could escape to worlds untold and puzzle out the intricacies of each plot twist.
One of Larry's favorite pastimes was riding his motorcycle, seizing every opportunity to feel the freedom of the open road beneath him. These rides were not just a hobby but a reflection of his adventurous spirit and love for life. He had a beautiful voice he loved to serenade anyone who would listen with sounds of Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash.
Larry was best described by those who knew him as friendly and passionate. His approachable nature made him a cherished friend and confidant, while his zeal for his interests and work endeared him to all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
