I shall miss you Ben.  I already do because I would call and talk to you after you moved to Arkansas.  You and Mr. Robertson was two of the best teachers there at Highland Park High and we had a lot of good teachers.  You and Mr. Robertson always called me Mac; Macateeee or Hot Lips (because I played the cornet in band).  You two were always giving me trouble, but I loved it.  I was really sad to hear of your passing but I know where you are, playing in band in HEAVEN.  Linda

 Mr. Tice,

I will be forever thankful that I took the time before your passing to let you know the huge impact that you had on my life.  Your personality, your way of relating to others and your way of motivating young people informed my approach to life and to leading others.  Your gentle humour, your willingness to get to know the kid AND his family AND his foibles taught me what it means to truly lead.  You taught me that 'authority' was meaningless if you didn't have the respect of your followers - and I, as with many, were willing to follow you anywhere!

I know I can speak for many of your students who would say that YOU were our 'Mr Holland' long before the movie captured that special something that was your guiding light.  You inspired me in life far more than music and I bless you for that.  Thanks forever.  Mark
