Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary for james R. Hannan, 18, 3101 DuPont, who died Sunday in a Topeka hospital where he was readmitted Feb. 22. He had been hospitalized several previously. he had cystic fibrosis.
He was born Sept. 28, 1948 at Lincoln, Neb., and had lived in Topeka 13 years. He was graduated with honors from Highland Park High School in 1966 and ranked 14th in his class. He had been a freshman at Washburn University.
He was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church. He was the city chess champion in 1965.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Hannan, at home; a sister, Bobbe Hannan, Wichita; and grandparents , Mr. and Mrs. Clyde M. Hannan, Lincoln, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Livingston, Marshalltown, Iowa, and Mrs. Esther Livingston, Ann Harbor, Mich.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at a cementary west of Bennett, Neb. Mr. Hannan will lie in state at the mortuary until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

I remember your crooked grin, your willingness to get involved in all the devilment that Shafer and I could dream up, your sunny disposition and the gentle joy you always brought with you like an aura. The world was a slightly darker place after your passing and I'll always remember you.
