Geary L. Slover (commonly known as Gene, Pops, Papa & Gear Bear by family) passed away March 29, 2023 after a long and hard fought fight against cancer.
Geary was born on February 15, 1948, in Harrison, AR the eldest son of Don and Shirley (Schutter) Slover. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1966 and was drafted into the Army shortly after, serving in Viet Nam.
Geary was a jack of all trades from mechanic, auto parts, heating and air, body shops, restoring vintage vehicles, owning his own body shops and construction retiring from KNI as a locksmith.
He married Diane (McDonald) Slover and spent almost 44 years together. He was a very proud Father to daughter Shannon and sons Travis and Tanner. He spent his younger years outside of work racing flat track motorcycles retiring in 1989 after winning 1st place in both Vintage and Over 40. Once his boys were older he spent his time taking them to BMX and dirt bike races. Geary went to all of his sons and grandson, Stevie’s races and ballgames very rarely missing any of them.
Geary did not let his cancer diagnosis stop him from much. He continued to be positive and his true ornery self through his entire fight. He enjoyed watching sports, giving his fur babies way too many treats, playing scratch tickets and spending time with his family that he loved so much.
Geary was predeceased by his daughter and parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Diane, sons Travis (Judy) and Tanner (Kerry), grandson Stevie and his sweet granddaughter due in September. Geary is also survived by his siblings; sisters, Donna Black of Lawrence, Sharon Moore of Carbondale, brothers; John Slover of Topeka, and Harvey Slover of Mayetta. https://www.legacy.com/funeral-homes/obituaries/name/geary-slover-obituary?pid=204200528&v=batesville&view=guestbook
