Karen L. Carson, 61, Berryton, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2007.

Karen was born November 28, 1946 in Topeka, the daughter of Ralph W. and Betty J. (Hess) Hazelitt. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1964, and attended Washburn University.

She worked for Yellow Freight until she became disabled in 2002.

Karen married Marlin Carson on September 16, 1967 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include son; Shawn Carson and wife Amy, Portland, OR; daughter, Tina Carson, Topeka; grand-children, Kellen and Audrey Carson; and brother, Scott Hazelitt, Lawrence.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Karen will lie in state at Newcomer Family Funeral Home after noon on Wednesday and the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
