Sondra Reland McDowell-Staley Passed away at home surrounded by family Jan 3, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.
Sondra was born Dec 8, 1946 in Topeka to parents Cletis McDowell and Lorene McPherson-McDowell-Sprouse.
Sondra attended Highland Park Schools and graduated from Highland Park High 1964.
She married Michael Strandberg in 1967. They later divorced. From this marriage she had one son Michael Strandberg Jr, who resides in KC MO.
She later married Russell Staley and they divorced.
Sondra had worked at Jostens Printing for a few years in binder and negative departments.
She started working at Hills Pet Nutrition in June of 1986 and retired Feb 2013 she was a operations technician.
Sondra loved to bowl and was on leagues at Highland Crest and Meadow Lanes. She loved animals of all sorts especially horses, her two precious dogs Princess and Ricki who stayed by her side.
She loved to travel and attend family functions. Her family met the world to her. She was a trophy queen at Shawnee Speedway. She also attended sporting events with her son and gathered autographs with him.
Sondra was preceeded in death by her father Cletis and a brother Billy whom were both killed in an auto accident in 1958.
Sondra left behind many heartbroken people, including her mother Lorene Sprouse, Tecumseh, her stepfather Charles Sprouse, her sister Donna Ridgeway, Topeka her Sister Debbie Trekell, Topeka and her brother Charles Sprouse Jr., Tecemseh as well as many nieces, nephews.
We would like to thank Grace Hospice for their excellent care and supplies and the paramedics who assisted.
There will be a private family burial.
