What sorrowful news at Vicki's passing.  As a classmate I had known Vicki for years.  I was in awe of her beauty which almost any fella would have been. As children, jr. high, I suppose we, a group of 4-6, would often play along the south property line of Shawnne Country Club.  I think, Galen Smith, Myself, Pat Little, Vicki and a couple of others would play games of tag and such.  My most glorious moment was one time Vicki and I had climed a tree and were sitting on a limb together.  The others began singing, "Jim and Vicki sitting in a tree, K,I,S,S,I,N,G.  I don't think it meant much to Vicki but I have and will cherish that moment forever.  May God Bless and keep those she left behind your lives as well as mine have been enriched by her lovliness.

My Fondest Regards,

Jim Diehl

I found out about Vicki's passing two years after it happened.  Vicki and I were good friends in Jr. High, high school and also a couple of years at KU.  We would get together every time I came back to Topeka to visit my family and friends.  But, as life happened, we lost touch.  Vicki holds a large place in my memories of school.  She was strong, talented, dynamic and a true friend.  I regret not keeping in touch with her, and honor those who stayed in touch, especially her husband Elvin and Connie Pierson Hill who were with her all the way home.

I was close friends with Vicki and her first  husband, Dennis Gardner, during their marriage and kept in touch with Dennis, Amy and Doug (children) following the divorce.  Marci mentioned Vicki's talent; I agree. During her marriage to Dennis and afterward, she owned and operated a successful interiior design/ wall papering business. I occasionally ran into Vicki at a local paint/paper store in College Hill.

Their daughter is a Family Nurse Practitioer in Missouri and the last I knew their son was an electrician in the Manhattan/Wamego area.
