I want to post some of the fond memories of my friend from early childhood at East Avondale Elementary School through Graduation at Highland Park High School in 1965. Debbie and I shared many of the same wonderful friends growing up. We both loved having parties. I had Christmas and Valentine parties at my house on our closed in porch, she had summer parties out in her garage. If she was sick and couldn't come to my party I was crushed. We loved sharing slumber parties and sometimes would tell our parents we were going to the other's house to sneak out and run around the neighborhood. (I don't know how we never got caught at that!) Of course we wouldn't be running around that neighborhood at night now! I still remember the day one of us got hold of a package of cigarettes and decided to try them out in her bathroom while her parents were away. You guessed it. You should have seen us running around trying to get the smoke out! After High School we became young married women and soon new mothers. We loved getting together with our other friends to play cards on Friday or Saturday nights. Unfortunately, we soon moved far away and lost close contact with many of our friends, including Debbie. She was a good friend and even though she was far away she was always in my thoughts and she still is.
