Kym Y. Magyar, 54, of Lexington Avenue, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital following a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Steven E. Magyar.
Kym was the much loved daughter of Gladys Y. Cerruto and George L. Yarocki and had lived in Torrington all her life. She graduated from Torrington High School in 1975 and Green Mountain College with an associates degree in medical assisting. She had worked for several doctors in the area, including Drs. Irwin, Sawula and James Smith before being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2000. As her health deteriorated, she was forced to retire and spend her days with her cat, Gismo.
In May 2011, she was diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent months of chemotherapy and radiation. Throughout her valiant struggle, she maintained her positive attitude and concern for her family and friends.
