Hugh A. Liberty, 77, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at St. Peter's Hospital after a short illness surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John and Dorothy Liberty and the husband  for over 50 years of Louise Liberty.   Hugh was a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College with a degree in civil engineering.  He had been employed by Allegheny-Ludlam Steel Corp. and the city of Troy, Dept. of Public Works.  He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church inTroy and was a member of the Antique Automobilist's Club.  Hugh had an avid interest in model rairoading and was an accomplished woodworker.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  Often reserved, Hugh was a man of unfaltering strength, wisdom and compassion who's unconditional love for his family will forever be cherished.  He is also survived by three children and their spouses, Jeffrey, Kevin (Danielle) and Karen (Thomas Oathout) Liberty; and by five grandchildren, Justin and Taylor Liberty, Jessica and Noah Liberty, and Eve Oathout. 

The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Daniel C.Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Ave. at Parkview Court, Troy with Rev. Randall Patterson officiating.  Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.  Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Wednesday from 8 untill 10:45 a,m. prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Hugh's memory may be made to Unity House, 2431 Sixtrh Ave., Troy, NY 12180.
