BRUNSWICK John E. Jack McCabe Jr., 66, of North Lake Avenue, Brunswick, died suddenly Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Born in Watervliet, he was the son of Helen (Brown) McCabe of Brunswick and the late John E. McCabe Sr. and husband for 20 years of Anita Poole McCabe. He had resided in Watervliet for 10 years and in Brunswick for most of his life where he was raised on the M.C. Bar Ranch. He was educated at Troy High School, class of 1957, and attended college in Pa. He was honored as a member of the Edward Pickens Troy High School Hall Of Fame. Jack was owner and operator of McCabe's Auto Service Inc. in Brunswick, which originated at the Shell Station on Hoosick Road. He was a member of Brunswick Lodge of Elks, Veterans of Lansingburgh, Grafton Trailriders, American Legion, Gasoline Retailers Association of New York and a member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Eagle Mills. Jack was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors in addition to his wife arid mother include two daughters, Jill McCabe and John McClement of Voorheesville and Judi Rogers of Albany; two sons, Scott Walter Newell (Tracey) of Grafton and John E. McCabe III (Tracy) of Voorheesville; a sister, Dolores Jacon (Thomas) of Weaverville, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Garrett, David, Morgan, John IV, Thea, Jonathan and Sarah; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, D. David and Charles F. McCabe. The family wishes to give a special thanks to the Rubin Dialysis Centers in Troy, Clifton Park and Saratoga for their wonderful care. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hope United Methodist Church, 566 Brunswick Road, Eagle Mills with Rev. David Martin, pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy on Monday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment, Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
