Barbara O'Brien (Bouchey)

i just learned today of Anne's passing more than two years ago and it has hit me pretty hard.  Anne and i were best friends from 4th grade through high school.  We rode the school bus together, took the same classes, belonged to the same clubs, talked for hours on the phone at night (supposedly doing homework!), rode horses on the weekends together and helped each other through our "finky' years. Her intellect was to be admired, but more than that, could she ever draw the most beautiful horses! We drifted apart during the college years, and I last saw her at our 50th class reunion. She looked marvelous and I had no idea the health challenges she had been and was fighting. I tried to make contact with her, so we could get together and reminsce more, but she never responded. I remember Anne and thank her for her friendship, loyalty and love. She was an inspiration to me and a pillar in my upbringing. If anyone knows how to contact her sisters, Kitty and Tina, or her husband, Larry Smith, I hope you will let me know. I believe she is riding the most beautiful heavenly horse right now and relishing in all the positive thoughts you send her. Barbara

So sorry to learn of Anne's passing.  Only knew her as a School 18 and THS classmate but was always envious of her intellect.  Spoke with her at some length at the 50th reunion.  I found her to be very gracious and really enjoyed hearing about her career and life.  About what I would have expected for such a bright person.  Very much appreciate learning more about her from Barbara O'Brien's comments and hope she is able to make contact with her family to relate our condolences.

Yes, very sad. I remember her funny and clever skits on the morning PA at THS. I also remember the day she patiently explained to me what "expressionism" means in painting. It turns out she wrote about German Expressionism. I have found two of her books and ordered them from online sellers. I will donate them to the THS library in her honor and memory. She was a very special person. RIP.

I also have fond memories of Anne during our THS years. May her memory be a blessing!

I tried to contact Anne several times, but had no response....and so I went to the web to try to find her. It was then that I saw her obit and contacted Connie Rapp to have the sad news posted on the Class of 1960 site. Several years ago, when I read that she was an art historian in Amherst, it an ah ha moment, as I knew our paths had crosseed in an unexpected manner.   I am a Trustee at The Cark Art Institute in Williamstown and we have always had great communications with colleagues in our area, not to mention throughout the world.  I was eager to renew our friendship, which began at  School 18, when we were young girls.   So sad to learn she had passed ~~~ but what a wonderful career she had and how proud we all should be of her life and achievements.
