CARIDI, DOMINICK POESTENKILL- Dominick J. Caridi, 68 passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 11th, 2010 at the Albany Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Troy on August 19th, 1942, he was the beloved son of the late Frank & Marion Daniele Caridi. Raised and educated in Troy, he was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College. He began his work career in the construction trade and subsequently was employed as a machine operator at the Owens Corning Co. in Glenmont until his retirement. Dominick proudly served his country in the New York Army National Guard and was retired after almost twenty four years of service. Dominick had been a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church for many years. He was a member of the Italian Community Center in Troy as well as the Troy Senior Citizens, Nassau Rod & Gun Club, and former member of the Poestenkill Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed the outdoors, wood carving, trips to Las Vegas and playing poker but most of all he loved to sing and dance. His greatest joy in life was his family and spending time with them. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many and will be greatly missed. Survivors include his beloved wife, Nina Pontari Caridi, cherished daughters, Tina (James, Jr.) Corellis of Schodack, Lisa (Charles Scott) Sivaslian of Poestenkill; treasured grandchildren Jermiah III & Brittni Curtin, Jamie Corellis, and Charles and Nina Sivaslian; devoted siblings Annette ( Kerry) O'Connor of Stephentown, Frank Caridi, Jr. of North Troy, Peter (Maria) Caridi and Richard Caridi of Texas, and Mary Catherine (Michael) Gregware of Troy; brother in law of Teresa (Robert) Moquin, Antonio (Carmela) Pontari, Francesca (Robert) Cesare, Brigida (late William) Bulmer, Antonino (Ann Marie) Pontari, Natali Pontari, Michael (Mary) Pontari, Leo (late Sandra) Pontari and Joseph (Heidi) Pontari. Special thanks to his niece, Chrissy Sibincich and his cousin Cynthia Perrier. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 16th, 2010 at 9:30 am at the Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet with interment to follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville where military honors will be accorded. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 pm. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the Emergency Department of the Albany Medical Center Hospital and the staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for their efforts on behalf of Dominick.
