JOHN CHOMYCZ OBITUARY

Chomycz, John W. TROY John W. Chomycz, 75 of Troy, entered into eternal life on Friday, June 4, 2021, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wiloflecken, Germany he was the son of the late Michael and Maria Kuczyk Chomycz, and the beloved husband for over 52 years to Judith Wilty Chomycz. John proudly served our country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, upon returning home he continued his service with the Air National Guard where he attained the rank of chief master sergeant. Mr. Chomycz retired several years ago from the Division of Military and Naval affairs. John was a devoted and active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Troy, he enjoyed volunteering his time to any function or activity involving the church, he was a member of the Albany Curling Team and the former secretary of Mahr's golf league in Troy. In his spare time John enjoyed golfing with his friends and mostly spending time with his family. Survivors, in addition to his wife Judith, include his two sons, William Chomycz and David (Cheryl) Chomycz; grandchildren, Madison, Marissa and Braden Chomycz; siblings, Anton (Rose) Chomycz, Anna (Gary) Bonitatibus; sister-in- law, Barbara (Vincent) Donato; nephews, Michael (Laura) Bonitatibus, Gunnery Sgt. Anthony Donato (ShelbyLynn Alexander), and Joseph Donato (Alyssa McCormack). He was predeceased by his cousin Bud Chomycz. Also survived by many cousins and friends. Family and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 3rd St., Troy. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Troy, with Fr. John Yanas officiating. Interment will follow in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers donations in John's memory would be appreciated and may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Ave., Troy, NY 12180.
