 William H. McLaughlin, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April, 3, 2014 in Community Hospice at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Henry McLaughlin and Ruth Phillips McLaughlin.
Raised and educated in Troy, he was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1963. Bill was aU.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a fireman with the Troy Fire Department for 26 years, retiring as captain in 1995.
Bill loved fishing and bird watching with his grandchildren and going on long rides with the love of his life, the late Sandy Seney. An outstanding baseball player and coach, he loved playing ball with his son.
Survivors include his son, Brett McLaughlin (Mandi) of East Greenbush; three brothers, Patrick McLaughlin (Donna) of Troy, Joseph McLaughlin of Troy, Gary McLaughlin (Betty) of Troy; two grandsons, Tyler and Anthony McLaughlin, godson, Patrick McLaughlin, and several nieces and cousins.
Funeral service will be private. Burial will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, with full military honors.
