Margaret 'Peg' Vitolins, 60, of Lansing Avenue, died September 28, 2008, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the wife of Modris 'Moe' Vitolins, THS '65, daughter of the late Richard B. and Elizabeth O. Mitchell, and stepdaughter of Dorothy MacPherson Skinner Mitchell (THS '41) of Kent, WA. She resided in Troy most of her life and was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1966, and The State University of New York at Albany in 1970.
Peg was payroll supervisor for Farm Family Insurance Company in Glenmont for the past 30 years. She was an active member of the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church in Troy, the church choir, United Methodist Women, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Palestine Chapter. Her loves were her grandchildren, to whom she devoted the final years of her life, as well as playing the piano, gardening, and traveling.
Survivors in addition to her husband and stepmother include her son, Andrew R. (Johna) Vitolins (THS '89) of Niskayuna; her daughter, Amy R. (Arthur) Bellini (THS '93) of Troy; her six grandchildren: Anna, Emma and Jack Vitolins, and Arthur III, Mitchell and Jordan Bellini; her sister, Betsy (Alan) Savery (THS '63) of Lincoln, CA; her step sister, Sandra THS '62 (Richard '63) Pochman of Renton, WA, brother-in-law Uldis THS '72 (Sue) Vitolins, sisters-in-law Nora Vitolins and Daphne Jones, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, October 4th, at 12 Noon at the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church , 520 Pawling Avenue, Troy, with the Rev. Karyl Hopp officiating.
Interment was in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, following the service.
The family would like to thank the Samaritan Hospital 6th Floor staff, and Dr. Regina Resta and the NYOH staff, for all the love and support given to Peg.
