Becker, John H. TROY John H. Becker, 69, of Seneca St., Troy, died suddenly Tuesday evening, January 26, 2016, at his residence. Born in Troy he was the son of the late Dr. Clarence and Mary Conway Becker. John attended Cardinal Farley high school and graduated from Troy high school in the class of 1965. He also attended Siena College. He was employed by New York State for over 25 years as a Supervisor for the Department of Housing and Renewal, retiring 10 years ago. John was a hockey referee for over 50 years for the ECAC, and a member of NIHOA and USA Hockey. He was a former member of the Country Club of Troy, a member of the AOH of Troy, a founding member of their Wednesday night golf league, and he was a member of Van Schaick Island Country Club. His passions were golf, hockey and his grandchildren. John is survived by his son John H. Becker, Jr. of the Troy Police Department and his wife Kim of Troy. His two loving grandchildren Abigail and Jack Becker. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother James Becker and his sister Beth Glynn. Funeral services will be held Sunday evening at 5 p.m. at the Stanton-Farrell Funeral Home, 326 Columbia St., Cohoes. Calling hours will be held Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m., prior to the service. Donations to the Troy PBA, PO Box 1041 Troy NY 12181 in memory of John would be appreciated.

I spent time at the brunch talking to John. His son's family lived a few doors down from Suzie's. He talked about his grandkids. I was looking forward to seeing him at the next reunion. RIP John. You'll be missed.
