Opitz, David B. TROY

David B. Opitz, 60, of Troy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Troy, he is the son of Lupita M. Opitz and the late Stanley J. Opitz Sr. David worked as an engineer for Verizon, retiring in 1993. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's School and Troy High School (class of 1965). He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 - 1972 and was a member of the American Legion Post in Wynantskill. Mr. Opitz was an organ donor. David is survived by his wife, Barbara J. (Fitzgerald) Opitz; his children, Shannon M. (Keith) Opitz of Schenectady and Michael D. Opitz of Troy. David is also survived by his sister, Donna Lu Opitz of Chatham; his brothers, John J. (Sheri) Opitz of Troy, Timothy S. (Linda) Opitz of North Greenbush. He was predeceased by his brother, Stanley J. Opitz Jr. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. David is also survived by his two favorite four-legged canine friends, Blu and Grey. The funeral for David will be held Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 8:45 a.m. from the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third Street, Troy, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart Church, Troy, with Fr. Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
