Fellow Titans!

Hope all goes well.

Since retiring from teaching, I have been busy writing stage plays - with some success.

My plays have received recognition from Long Beach Playhouse, Alleyway Theatre, Ashland New Play Festival, Theatre Conspiracy,University of California Irvine and so forth.

Critical commentary includes Thumbs - 'profound ideas', Noche de los Muertos - 'a brilliant schematic' and lyrically written', The Funniest Joke in the World - 'heartfelt and compelling', and The Language of Flowers - 'a hauntingly beautiful play'.

This October 12 we will be opening my play Hokey Pokey.

Place - Cabaret Theater - 330 S. Scott (Temple of Music and Art)

Times : October 12, 13, 19, 20, 27 at 7:30 PM, October 14, 21, 28 at 2:00 PM.

$20 or $15 for groups of four or more. Call 297-3317 for tickets.

Come and support your fellow Titan and have a chance of being part of a world premiere!

See ya there,

Gavin Kayner

Hi Fellow Titans,

Left message on Facebook (I think?) and trying one here - sorry for the duplication - not very tech savvy.

At any rate - Piquant Plays is producing my play The Language of Flowers - May 29, 30, June 5,6,12,13 at 7:30 pm and May 31, June 7 and 14 at 2 pm - Cabaret Theater 330 S. Scott downtown Tucson.

Flowers won the Long Beach Playhouse and Theater Conspiracy new play prizes and was a semi-finalist for the San Francisco Playwright Foundation award.

Critical commentary includes - 'A hauntingly beautiful play.' Shirlee Gottlieb of LADCC and 'One of the most well written plays I've read in years.' Audrey Singer of Actors Forum.

Tickets at 297-3317.

Why not put a group together and support you classmate and see highly acclaimed theater all at once.

To all my classmates I will miss seeing you in Tucson at our 50th reunion.  I attended the 40th but was never able to get the booklet that was supposed to have been produced.  If anyone knows how I can still get one please let me know.  I updated my profile today and added some pictures.  I rarely get to AZ anymore.  The last time was for a funeral of a very close college friend.  I'm glad to see that more people have joined our class page.  Please stay in touch.  I spend my winters in MO and summers in TN and AL.  I'm active and very fitness focused the past few years working out regularly at our Lifetime Fitness in MO.  I would like to give some feedback to our reunion organizers.  The plans seem to have too many options and little time together as a group.  Since I lived in Tucson for 7 years I know my way around the sites and area.  After I moved to TN I went back to visit every year for many years to see college friends but have not kept up with HS friends in my class.  That's probably my fault but none the less I would like to now in case I come visit and there is another reunion in 5 years.  Most of my travels the last few years has been to attend funerals and see family.  Sad but true that we are getting older.  Have fun and I look forward to seeing photos posted.

I just found out from my sister today that her class of 1966 was invited to our reunion. If you don't live close to AZ it is costly in travel expenses and hotel costs to attend a reunion. Neither her nor me can afford to travel that far from STL or TN to go to AZ for two days of cocktail receptions that only cost $11. pp for both the Fri night and Sat night events. I spend more to have dinner at an AZ Mexican restaurant within 15 of my home in MO. I can go to Salina's Mexican Restaurant in Chesterfield, MO and enjoy their authentic AZ style Mexican food because the owner is Shirley whose family started Serranos Mexican Restaurants in AZ. If you don't plan events that I can meet and reconnect with classmates why could I want to spend over $800. to attend for 2 $11. dinners? Sorry but that is reality for people who don't live in AZ. In the past when I was working I had extra money but not now at my age with today's COL living expenses. I'd love to come to AZ to spend a week but practically it just doesn't fly.  In the future please consider the Cost vs Return on Investment when someone is planniing a trip.  As much as we would both like to visit Tucson we need to justify the cost.  If the Class of 1966 or 1967 plans a reunion in the future that includes both classes please consider the fact that not everyone lives in AZ and the cost of travel and hotels is much more today than in the past.  Make it worth our cost of attending.  Please.  If you don't want us out of state classmates attending then we'll know by your plans.  Just something to think about.  Yes, I'm very honest.

Charlotte...I do not disagree with what you have said....but I think...if you are going to be a crtic , you need to offer suggestions of ways to make the event more attractive to you and other out-of-towners.....don't you think?

I am not attending, but not criticizing. I am attending my granddaughter's college graduation instead. I feel that the committee set up a grand time for all at very reasonable prices. I am grateful someone took this task on and went forward with it. I will be in Tucson June 9th-13th so if anyone is interested, message me and we can arrange a meeting.

Thanks to those who chose to be a part of the reunion committee and the reunion.

Sending blessings, Frances

I applaude the reunion committee for working so hard to put together this reunion - and several previous ones.  They've provided a variety of opportunities for people to get together, reconnect, and have fun.  I wish there were some way to show our appreciation for their all they've done behind the scene. I'm looking forward to making this a great reunion.

I agree with Lynn and others that we should applaud the Reunion Committee for a job well done through the years.  I have helped in reunions other than my own and it is a huge task to take on with the planning and communication to the alumni. A job well done too!  My only complaint is that I wish there were more alumni that would take a interest in attending. They don't know what they are missing.

Kudos to the Re-Union Committee for working so diligently to pull this all together.  It's not easy trying to set a format where several hundred would be satisfied, but I think they have given people an opportunity to get together if they so desire, or go out and do their own thing in smaller groups or individually.  Certainly looking forward to seeing friends, teammates, classmates at this gathering!  Thanks to the Committee for setting this up!   Take $10 out of petty cash!

I sure would not want the task and the time it must have taken to organize all this for our class reunion. Great job guys!  I wish June and I could make it.

Keep going Titans

This message is in response to the post of Charlotte Luce Burke.

What in the world could the reunion committee have done to make the reunion "cost effective " for you?  It is unfortunate for you that you live so far away but give the reunion committee a break.  They tried to keep the cost down and did a great job as far as I can see. Do us all a favor and keep your negative posts to yourself.  Could you have done better?

I'm sorry but I must say I have been looking forward to this reunion for many years and the bottom line here is not the cost...it is the people you cared about and interacted with so long ago that left good memories in your heart yhat counts no matter the cost. The whole point of the reunion is remembering and getting back in touch with fellow classmates and being able to visit with them once again after so many years have passed. We have little time on this eart.."only for a moment and the moments gone.".. its the people that count and the bond we shared as fellow classmates...the friends we made and the expieriences we shared so long ago that have molded our future. It is always the poeple and I have great memories of being part of a terrific group of people even though I was a shy country boy. With all due respect Charlette I too am on a very limited income (cowboys don't cowboy up for the money) but I also had a good lenght of time so save money so I could attend because all my fellow classmates are worth it.. .I am sorry that you will not be there. ...............John Lowry Gibbons AKA Jon Callender

I hope that everyone saw my recent post giving thanks to all the commiittee for their planning.  My life is more complicated than I want.  Besides my health issues and my husband's bad hip we got a call from our youngest son in the Navy yesterday morning.  He headed out yesterday on assignment so we might not hear from him again for some time.  This keeps us on edge.  I don't know if anyone has been affected by the recent Cyber Security attacks but we have been on an iPhone of my husband and my computer.  I've been on top of it and have good protection.  Just warning people to check your protection on all your devices.  I thank the reunion committee for all your work.  I hope to join you at another reunion.  Please stay in touch.  Have fun.

Happy 50th Reunion to all my fellow 1967 graduates.  Unfortunately I am unable to attend the festivities due to a previous 2 day seminar commitment I will be attending.  I have enjoyed reading all of the posts and wish everyone a wonderful celebration!!  I do hope to get to Monterey Court to see Craig play.  Maybe I'll get to see some of you there.  50 years since high school has been quite an exciting ride.  I wouldn't have changed a thing -- well, maybe one or two!  I am happily retired from telecommunications for over 12 years and now work for a locally owned Auto Glass Company.   No, I didn't go back to work due to boredom.  I went back to manage my time.  Seems there is an incredible volunteer network in Tucson and when they find out you volunteer everyone calls.  Going back to work, part time, was a great way to be home more often.  So, my volunteering has been downsized to the NICU at UMC, now Banner UMC.  Best wishes to everyone, Rosie
