Marcia "Muffie" R. Mackey 58, was called home peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 21, 2009 following a long battle with cancer. She is the beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to many and all she met. Muffie was born June 6, 1951 in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Palo Verde High School and attended the University of Arizona where she met her husband, David. Muffie worked as a Medical Office manager until her retirement in 2002. Upon retirement, Muffie became involved in many philanthropic pursuits, essentially devoting her life to the care of others. She truly had the heart of a servant, putting others before herself. She gave to charities including: Christ Child Society, Meals on Wheels, Interfaith Community Council, Paralyzed Veterans Association of Southern Arizona and volunteered as a reading tutor for children. She was a strong and faithful servant of God and spent much of her time studying His word and practicing what she learned and participating in outreach programs through her bible study group HEART. Muffie was happiest spending time with her family. Family vacations to Kino Bay, Mexico and Apache Lake were among some of her fondest early memories. Later, she traveled to Europe, Alaska and all over the United States often with friends and her husband. Muffie embraced life, like no other, with a vibrancy and a joy that was infectious to all around her.
