Wow gals!  Your comments took me right back to elementary.  I think we "girls"  all thought he was cute.  Anyone know when and how he passed.  RIP Jon.

New leads for old case

TUCSON - A 15 year old cold case is heating up.

The Pima County Sheriff's detectives have reopened the case of Jon Spanhook.

They have some new leads, but still need your help in solving this 1995 homicide.

It wasn't a random act of violence, says the Detective Dan Preuss. He says the victim was a target.

Jon Spanhook, 45, had just returned to his mobile home located in 4300 block of North Iroquois.

Detective Preuss says, "Some neighbors heard some yelling, some arguing, some conversation and then a couple of gunshots."

News 4 Tucson obtained a copy of the 9-1-1 call they say the victim made on August 13, 1995.

The dispatcher says, "9-1-1 what are you reporting? Hi this is the sheriff's department, what's wrong?"

The caller says "shot".

Detective Preuss says, "We heard nothing more from him at that time deputies responded to the house, along with fire department personnel they saw Mr. Spanhook inside the house."

They broke through the sliding glass door. Paramedics tried to save his life.

Investigators say there is a motive, but they aren't able to release it at this time.

What we can release is that Jon Spanhook was not involved in any illegal activities.

Detective Preuss says after looking over the files he's uncovered new information.

"We believe there's several individuals who know what happened and who's actual responsible. We do have some leads we're following up on, however we would like the public's assistance. We have several pieces of evidence that are at the lab getting worked on right now."

If you have information you are urged to contact 88-CRIME or the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

I know Jon's sister and I went to his funeral That was our Jon .His sister knows who did this but can not prove it.It was about a jealous  x husband. It should never have happened. But at  least we have fond memories to remember him by.I hope he knows that he is still thought of.

I didn't really know Jon but am pleased to see that his case may be resurrected.  I used to prosecute for Pima County and have every reason to believe that the office will do its job if there is sufficient information to file charges.

Jon and I used to raise fancy homing pidgeons together and his were always faster than mine. We used to bring them to school in our lunchpails and then let them race home, when we weren't chasing the girls with them.

Fo those of you who may have forgotten Jon's dad was every boy in the nieghborhoods barber for many years and we all got the exact same haircuts..............Kolb and 22nd
