In Memory

Emerald Crawford

Emerald was a beauty. Tragically, she was missing for quite some time and died a violent death. Our thoughts and prayers are still with her and her family. -Becky Polick Thomas

Emerald was my very first girlfriend back in 5-6th grade (if you can call it girlfriend/boyfriend at that young age). We were very close throughout elementary and junior high but, sadly, had drifted apart from each other in high school. I remember Emerald always looking and acting very mature for her age. In grade school, she looked like a high school student. In high school, she looked and acted like a collage student. Emerald was a very beautiful, sweet and smart young lady!
I was devastated when I found out that Emerald was brutally murdered - it still makes me sick to think about it!!!
A BEAUTIFUL PERSON HAS BEEN WRONGFULLY TAKEN FROM US IN THIS WORLD!!!
I hope that the #%&$! ANIMAL that took Emerald from us rots in hell for eternity!!!

Emerald's death was a tragedy. My brother was instrumental in the investigation that led to an arrest. May she rest in peace.

I have fond memories of hanging out at lunch with Emerald, Elsa Ezzre and Anna Redondo. May Emerald rest in peace.

Emerald was my neighbor in 1981, just before she died. I can't believe it has been so long ago now. she was so full of life and it is a shame what that man did to her. I was blessed to have gotten to know her before she was taken from us. God Bless you and may you Rest in Peace.

Truly appalling circumstances, no doubt about it.  I recall reading the Arizona Daily Star article (probably printed around 1989) reporting Emerald's disappearance.  Though she and I had never been close back when we were in the same 6th-grade class, I nonetheless found the account of her disappearance troubling.  Afterwards I often wondered what had happened to her.  Though it's too late to bring her back alive, I'm glad at least they got a conviction.

Anyone wishing to read the details of her case and the ruling can find it at http://www.leagle.com/decision/19931439827FSupp612_11344/U.S.%20v.%20ABURAHMAH.
