John Jacobs passed on September 22, 2008 after struggling with a debilitating illness. At the time of his passing, John was survived by his daughter, Ellie Jacobs; father, Robert K. Jacobs; sister, Jane Maccarelli (Jim); nephews, Jeremy and Alex Jacobs and friend for life, Heather McManus. John was preceded in death by his older brother Bob Jacobs (SHS Class of 1976).
After graduating from Sahuaro High School in Tucson, John enjoyed many years at the University of Arizona, graduating in 1985. He then began a successful 20 year career in Outdoor Advertising. For John, Outdoor was a passion. He approached the business with a relentless competitive drive that only his college rugby teammates could completely appreciate. He was an avid sports fan and devoured the sports section of the newspaper every day. His favorite teams were the Oakland A's, St. Louis Rams and U of A Wildcats. We will always remember John's zest for life, his laugh, big smile, devotion to his daughter and generous heart to all his friends and family.
