After graduating from THS, I spent my first two years of college at Sewanee. I studied abroad junior year at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, then transferred to UT in Knoxville when I came back to the States to complete my journalism degree.
I moved to New York City the day after I graduated from UT to take a job at Newsweek. From there, I moved back to Europe (I'm not one for stability it seems) to continue my travel writing career and get a post-grad degree in international journalism and world politics from universities in Holland and Denmark. It's there I met my husband, Scott. After we graduated from the program, I moved back to New York and he to San Francisco. We dated long distance for two years while I continued my career in the magazine industry.
Once I had established myself, I relocated to the West Coast, where I've been for 3.5 years. We got married in the spring of 2010. I continue to work as a freelance travel writer, traveling half the year internationally, writing a handful of guidebooks a year for Frommer's and penning magazine pieces.
