 Cynthia Griffin PoteetCynthia Griffin Poteet, 41, of Norman, died June 15.She was the wife of David Poteet, pastor of Bridgeview UMC in Norman.Cindy - born in Enid, Oklahoma on Jan. 24, 1959 - graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa and later attended Southern Methodist University, where she earned undergraduate degrees in both theater and psychology, and a master's degree in psychology. She worked many years as a counselor to teenage girls at the Francis Willard Home for Girls, in Tulsa, before serving as intake director for Circle of Care.Cindy was an active member of many churches, including Tulsa-Boston Avenue, First UMC in Richardson, Texas, OKC-St.Luke's UMC, and Bridgeview UMC in Norman.Cindy sang in church choirs and performed in and directed several church musicals.The new Little Theatre at St. Luke's is being named in her memory. She is survived by her husband, Rev. David Poteet; three children, Sarah, Joshua, and Rachel; one stepdaughter Jessica; father and stepmother, Robert and Jean Griffin; grandmother, Thirza Rose; one brother, one stepbrother and one stepsister.Memorial services were held Monday, June 19, at OKC-St.Luke's UMC.Memorial donations may be made to the Norman-Bridgeview UMC Building Fund, Cynthia L. Poteet Theatre of OKC-St.Luke's UMC, or Hospice of Central Oklahoma.
